HOW I GOT RID OF SPAM COMMENTS

I had some problems with spam comments on my other blog. I had a one year hiatus with that blog and when I decided to update again, I discovered 700++ spam comments and I guess that was the price I payed for not turning on the comment moderation.

I am not a very technical guy when it comes to blogging, but I easily recognized this spam comments. Comments that says "hi, nice blog", "wonderful article, thanks for sharing". Comments which are written the same way and seems copied and pasted over and over again and has a link pointing to porn sites and websites about dating and breast enlargement. Oh they are so annoying.

There were just to many of them that I had no choice but to delete them one by one and I was successful getting rid of all of them. And then I turned on blogspot's comment moderation to make sure those spammers won't bother me again. I was fortunate enough that google didn't blocked my blogspot blog because of those spams, the robots may not have seen it yet.

I wander why has google not yet upgraded their spam detection system, unlike in wordpress , a lot of plug-ins are available to detect and prevent spams. In blogspot however, turning on the comment moderation and reviewing every comments for approval is the only way to prevent spam, but I observed that turning on comment moderation also lessens yoyr chances of increasing your blog comments because blogspot comment system is not so user-friendly.
